Re: Couple thoughts...
Texas is paid a fixed amount each year regardless of the profit or loss incurred by ESPN. The SEC is paid a percentrage of profits. In both cases, the network is wholly owned by ESPN. This network will also be owned by ESPN (assuming the conversion of ESPN News). They also own the FB and MBB content. What does the ACC contribute in order to be paid? They can't demand much, but at least something for the Olympic sports. hokieone says the individual schools have already been receiving payment for producing OOC games. That's something... how much? If they want a share of profits, they would likely have to scrap the current payout in exchange for that, and extend the term of the deal, as well. Or the conference could buy an ownership stake; very risky, cost intensive. I see some upside for ESPN if they convert ESPN News, but I see much less opportunity for the ACC ( aside from the exposure and identity boost that come with a dedicated conference channel.).
What am I missing?
